My Arewa Data Science Fellowship Journey Part-III

I’m glad to share that I have completed the third and final stage of the AREWA DATA SCIENCE ACADEMY Data Science and Machine Learning Fellowship Program. Over the past eight weeks, we delved into the fascinating realm of Machine Learning, exploring various algorithms and techniques using the popular Python library, Scikit-learn.

In the third stage, we delved deeper into machine learning, covering a wide array of topics. We began by studying the history and foundational concepts of machine learning, followed by building regression models in Python and preparing data for classification tasks. Our exploration extended to clustering techniques, particularly focusing on K-Means, and we were introduced to natural language processing (NLP), which involved building a bot and performing sentiment analysis. Additionally, we tackled advanced topics such as time series forecasting and reinforcement learning. Throughout this stage, the fellowship provided comprehensive career services to facilitate our transition from learning to professional practice. These services included career advising, resume and LinkedIn reviews, and training in presentation skills. Furthermore, we learned how to develop a portfolio website to showcase our bio, CV, projects, and accomplishments.

In parallel with the fellowship curriculum, we were fortunate to receive sponsorship to enroll in the DataCamp course track, specifically the Data Science Associate track. This track required 86 hours of dedicated learning, covering 22 courses and 11 projects. I also successfully completed an 8-hour exam for the Data Science Associate Certificate, which further solidified my knowledge and skills in data science.
